<p>This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).</p>
<p>Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian’s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon.</p>
<p>Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum.</p>
<p>Continue in a local restaurant for lunch.</p>
<p>After lunch drive along the coastal road, passing the wonderful beaches of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni &amp; Varkiza to the most Southern point of Attica, Cape Sounion, where the white marble pillars of the Temple of Poseidon stand. On the way, you have a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf and the little islands offshore. After visiting the Temple of Poseidon, you have time to walk at leisure on the rocky promontory of Sounion.</p>

<p>The tour begins in front of the Parliament in Syntagma Square where you will see the Monument of the Unknown Soldier and the change of the famous Guards. From here you will enter the Plaka area heading to the Acropolis and visit with your guide the Propylaea, the Temple of Nike, and the Parthenon, the monuments that remind us of Glory of Ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles.</p>
<p>See also in the surrounding the Athenian Agora, the Observatory, the Hill of Democracy (Pnyx), Mars and Philoppapos Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the Theater of Dionysus.</p>

<p>You’ll depart Athens under the morning sun and enjoy a delicious, optional breakfast, if you choose, from our menu. As you cruise the legendary waters of the historic Saronic Gulf, our first island destination, is Hydra.<br />
On arrival you’ll marvel at the amazing architecture of the harbour town and have plenty of time to discover the many charms of the island on one of our tours. A leisurely stroll through the narrow streets is a must.<br />
Depart Hydra and cruise to Poros, a quiet and beautifully green island, noted for its pleasant beaches and the fragrant aroma of lemon carried by a gentle wind from its many groves. The boat will be at Poros for about 1 hour leaving you enough time to admire the graphic setting of the island&#8217;s Chora.<br />
Cruise to Aegina and discover the island’s brilliant cultural heritage, including an optional short boat ride to swim. <p><strong>1st day:</strong> Leave by the coastal road to the Corinth Canal (short stop). Drive on and visit the Theatre of Epidauros, famous for its remarkable acoustics. Then proceed to the town of Nauplion (short photo stop), drive on to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Then depart for Olympia through Central Peloponnese and the towns of Tripolis and Megalopolis. Overnight in Olympia, the cradle of the Olympic Games. (Dinner)</p>
<p><strong>2nd day:</strong> In the morning visit the Archaeological Site with the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Then drive on through the plains of Eliad and Achaia until the magnificent bridge which is crossing the Corinthian Bay from Rion to Antirion. Pass by the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) and Itea, arrive in Delphi. Overnight. (Dinner)</p>
<p><strong>3rd day:</strong> In the morning visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum. Depart for Kalambaka, a small town stated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks. Overnight. (Dinner)</p>
<p><strong>4th day:</strong> Visit Meteora, among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks which seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless Monasteries, where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Return to Athens via Trikala, Lamia, Thermopylae (short stop to see across the road the Leonida&#8217;s Monument). Arrive in Athens early in the evening.</p>

<p>Drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the towns of Thebes connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus &#8211; Levadia and Arachova (short stop on the way back).</p>
<p>Arrive at Delphi, the center of Ancient World &#8211; the &#8220;Omphalos&#8221; (Navel of Earth) &#8211; whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World.</p>
<p>On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios.</p>
<p>Visit the Treasury of the Athenians, the Temple of Apollo and the Museum containing such masterpieces of Ancient Greek sculpture as the bronze Charioteer and the famous athlete Aghias.</p>
<p>Lunch in the modern village of Delphi, return to Athens by the same route.</p>

<p>This tour gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city.</p>
<p>Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896 (short stop).</p>
<p>Continue and pass by the Prime Minister&#8217;s residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniform, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian&#8217;s Arch, the Parliament and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma).</p>
<p>On the Acropolis visit the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally &#8220;the harmony between material and spirit&#8221;, the monument that &#8220;puts order in the mind&#8221;, the Parthenon.</p>
<p>Continue and visit the place where at last the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The new Acropolis museum.</p>
<p><strong>N.B. 1)</strong> Due to certain restrictions in the visiting hours of the new Acropolis museum the order of the program can be changed.</p>
